Lara Ordóñez works with textile supports and techniques within contemporary artistic production. In recent years, she has participated in several artist residencies in Spain and Europe, including at the Centre d’Art La Rectoria (Barcelona) and the Berlin Art Institute (Berlin, Germany), and La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, in Mallorca, in collaboration with Artnet. She recently completed her doctoral thesis at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, graduating with honours.
Her work addresses the relationship between oral and collective memory and textile language, all linked to the private spaces of the home, heritage, and the transmission of knowledge.
Her artistic research revolves around the concept of identity, both personal and collective, and how cultural heritage endures through expressions, objects, places, materials, and processes. The artist incorporates this heritage into her discourse through the use of textile techniques, natural dyeing, and the formats she works with. Textile invites manipulation, material and technical experimentation, and offers opportunities to explore how to tell stories through a process in which time is another present element.
Her works have been recognised at Abierto Valencia 2024 by the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, the La Escalera Collection, and the Marte Fair in Castellón, as well as at the Estampa 2024 fair, where she received the La Escalera Collection Acquisition Award and the Acquisition Prize from Cervezas Alhambra. Her work has been exhibited in public institutions such as the Casa de Vacas Cultural Centre in Madrid, the EACC Contemporary Art Space in Castellón, and the Espai d’Art Contemporani El Castell – ECA in Ribarroja.
Her current and upcoming projects include group exhibitions in 2026 at prominent public institutions such as the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM) in Valencia, the Casal Solleric and Es Baluard in Palma de Mallorca, the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Huesca (CDAN) in Huesca, and the Museo Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (MUCAC) in Málaga.
