Víctor González
Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz
1996
Víctor González holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville. He has lived and worked in Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom, where he has held exhibitions and developed various projects.
The work of Víctor González intuitively explores the representational codes of painting through the interpretation of the cultural elements of his environment. Elements of different origins, such as architecture, ornamental materials or objects. A prism of its own, composed of shapes and sensations that act as a handle to pull the thread in which the painting reveals itself. Compositions that propose biogeometrically assembled spaces and environments in which the viewer’s subconscious completes the construction of the pictorial image.
In addition to his work on canvas, he also works with other techniques and materials to explore the pictorial language. A search for the inner language of painting from outside.
He was recently selected as a finalist for the 2024 BMW Painting Award, and his work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Royal Academy in London and the Centro Cultural Fundación Unicaja de Sevilla. His work has been recognized with grants and awards such as the VIII Certamen UNIA de Pintura, an Honorable Mention at the I Premio de Creación Artística of CICUS, the Diputación de Sevilla, and the artist residency at the Fundación Antonio Gala. He has also been selected for the XIV Encontró de Artistas Novos of the Xunta de Galicia and the Fundación Cidade da Cultura.
