BIO

Vicent Machí

València

1997

Vicent Machí graduated in Artistic Production from the Universitat Politècnica de València in 2021. He previously studied Fine Arts at the same university, and between 2017 and 2018 he moved to Milan to study painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.

His various lines of work stem from his appreciation of the experiential aspects of the pictorial process and the relevance he gives to the formal elements of painting. In addition, the mechanisms of pictorial creation are the protagonists of his work, giving the painted image the role of medium, language and end.

The lines of research that his artistic practice follows are mainly landscape and territory. The reasons for their presence in his painting are, on the one hand, the questioning of their representation and, on the other, the analysis of our relationship with them. In his work, Machí pays attention to his particular vision of the landscape; the way he observes, understands and feels it.

Although his production is focused on painting and its processes, some of his projects have an interdisciplinary nature and make use of photography and video.

His work is part of prestigious institutions such as the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, the DKV Collection, the Kells Collection and the DiGood Collection. He has received numerous awards, such as the XXIII National Painting Prize of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos, the prize for the best Spanish artist at the Swab Barcelona 2021 fair, the Juan Francés National Painting Prize or the second prize in the XXIII University of Murcia Painting Prize. In addition, some of his individual projects have been exhibited at MuVIM or the Chirivella Soriano Foundation in Valencia, among others. His work has also been included in collective exhibitions at Drassanes del Grao in Valencia, the Almudí Art Centre and the Pedro Cano Foundation in Blanca, both in Murcia.
