Lara Ordóñez works with textile supports and techniques from contemporary artistic production. In the last few years she has had various artistic residencies in Spain and Europe, including at the Centre d’ Art La Rectoria (Barcelona) and the Kunstinstitut Berlin (Berlin, Germany), and has participated in various exhibitions and international art fairs. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
In her work she explores the relationship between oral and collective memory and textile language, all linked to the private spaces of the home, inheritance and the transmission of knowledge.
Her artistic research revolves around the concept of identity, both personal and collective, and how cultural heritage is perpetuated through expressions, objects, places, materials and processes. The artist incorporates this heritage into her language through the use of textile techniques, natural dyes and the formats in which she works. Textiles invite manipulation, material and technical experimentation and offer opportunities to discover how to tell stories through a process in which time is another present element.
Her works have been awarded in Abierto Valencia 2024 by the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, the La Escalera Collection and the Marte Fair in Castellón. In turn, she is part of collections such as the DiGood Collection. She has been exhibited in public institutions such as the EACC Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo in Castellón and the Espai d’Art Contemporani El Castell – ECA in Ribarroja, and has been awarded the Castellón 2023 Prize at the Marte Fair.
